Help keep our food bank stocked by adopting a shelf in our food bank! When you adopt a shelf, you commit to regularly restocking a section of our food bank with essential items. Individuals, families, groups, businesses, and organizations are all welcome to participate—multiple adoptions are needed for each category. See below or contact Jasmine@sistercarmen.org to learn more.

Sister Carmen has seen a 25 percent increase in households accessing our food bank over the past several years. It’s become increasingly challenging to provide the quantity, quality, and culturally relevant foods required to meet the needs of our community. As a result, we need more food donations and more consistent donation of items. Join us in supporting a reliable source of nourishment for our community!

Anyone can adopt a shelf! Individuals, church groups, book clubs, neighborhood associations, neighbors, sports teams, businesses, etc.

Your shelf needs to be restocked monthly.

  • For this program, buying the items and dropping them off is best for us!
  • Collect items and deliver them each month to Sister Carmen, 655 Aspen Ridge Drive, Lafayette, CO 80026. (See ‘When/where is drop-off and what is the process’ for all the details.)
  • Some groups decide to collect money and designate one person purchase items in bulk and then drop them off.
  • It takes approximately 1,500 items to stock a shelf for one week, or 300 items per day. Sister Carmen averages 70-80 households shopping each day.
  • You are not responsible for the entire shelf, unless you wish to do so. It can take multiple adoptions to keep one shelf full.
  • We will provide you with a specific list of most-needed items for your shelf. A mixture of items for your shelf is most beneficial.
  • Available shelves include: canned protein, canned meals/soups, pantry items, carbohydrates, pet food, household/toiletries, baby items, canned fruit, and canned vegetables.

No minimum number of items is required. Just let us know how much you can commit to contributing each month, so we know how many more groups we need to help adopt a shelf.

At least monthly, but you can drop off more frequently if preferred. Miss a month? It happens! Just pick back up where you left off the next month.

You can choose the week or day of the month that works best for you to drop off.

A year-long commitment is most helpful; however, you can commit to 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 1 year, or ongoing.

  • Drop off is at our food bank at 655 Aspen Ridge Drive, Lafayette, CO 80026 on the East side of the building next to our dock/garage door.
  • Please ring the doorbell for assistance.
  • Items will be weighed on a scale. Complete a donation drop-off form on the iPad. Select the ‘Adopt-a-Shelf’ drop-down option and complete form. You can also send yourself a receipt.
  • Drop-Off Hours: Monday – Friday, 9am-4:30pm
  • Decide what shelf you are interested in adopting.
