COVID-19 Volunteer Updates
We care about you!
We are asking that our volunteers use their best judgement about coming in to help. Your health is important to us. If you are sick, at greater risk, or don’t feel comfortable coming in, please stay home.
All volunteers are required to be up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccinations and masks indoors are strongly recommended.
Learn more about Sister Carmen’s COVID-19 response and mask policy here.
We need Virtual Volunteers!
The need for food has increased substantially, and we need volunteers to host virtual food drives with their families, neighborhoods, clubs, or workplace. This kind of help is greatly needed, and can be done remotely!
Food Bank Volunteers
Help support the community as a Food bank Volunteer! We have distributed out over 1.1 million lbs of food in 2021 to the community in need.
Tasks include thanking donors, weighing and sorting groceries and produce, checking expiration dates, stocking shelves, packing boxes, helping at coolers, helping with carts, recycling and composting, and assisting shoppers.
Shifts are M-F, one shift per week, 3 month commitment requested. Training provided.
Shifts are: M-F, 9:00-11:30, 11:30-2:00, 2:00-5:00, and 4:30-6:00 on Wednesdays.

Please park next door at Lafayette library, and come to the rear entrance of the store.
We reserve the right to limit the number of volunteers on premises at any time.
Volunteers Under 18
We love our young volunteers! Volunteering as a family is a great way to learn, bond, and give back to the community. Activities can include working in our Community Garden, sorting/organizing food or thrift store donations, or stocking the thrift store floor. There are also many off-site opportunities such as conducting food drives!
Children under the age of 14 must be supervised by a parent at all times while volunteering. Ages 14+ may volunteer independently.
When you apply, we will schedule you for a required 1 hour department training.
Spanish orientations available by request – Orientaciones en español disponibles a pedido.
