This Friday morning 5/24 at 8am Our Facilities/Operations Director Dan Greeley will be doing a live interview with TaRhonda Thomas of 9 News. Please tune in to 9 News at that time to See Dan! If for some reason you miss it, the interview will air again at other times throughout the day on 9 News. This interview precedes Dan’s Rock Center Feature. Be sure to tune in to that as well!

Cliff Effect Story on NBC’s Rock Center next Friday

A story about the Cliff Effect phenomenon is scheduled to air next Friday, May 24 on NBC’s Rock Center at 9pm. Our Facilities/Operation Director Dan Greeley will be featured. We hope everyone can tune in!

Note – There is a chance this will not air if something more pressing is happening in the news. We will have no way of knowing before hand if the show gets cancelled, so we apologize in advance if there is any cancellation. In the case there is, we will post the new air date here once it’s scheduled.

Benefit Concert for SCCC

Sunday afternoon June 2 at 2:30pm the Jubilate Sacred Singers will be holding a benefit concert for SCCC at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. They will start after the noon Mass and the concert will last about a hour. There will be no charge, but an offering benefiting the SCCC will be collected. Scotch Whiskey Tasting to Benefit SCCC, June 29

During this special event, local aficionado Buz Dabkowski will take us on a tour of Scotland by way of a few wee drams – The Macallan, the Famous Grouse, and Highland Park, to name but a few (http://edringtongroup.com/our-brands/macallan).

For your $65 ticket ($110 per couple), you will:

Discover how whiskey is made.
Learn the proper way to enjoy the nuance and magic of the malt.

The Big Event 2 – Big Success!

The Big Event 2 on April 6 was a huge success! Tens of thousands of dollars were raised to support SCCC. Our emcee TaRhonda Thomas of 9 News and our moving speakers Izhar Harpaz of Dateline NBC, and Ann Huggins & Suzanne Crawford of Sister Carmen Community Center helped us consider the reality of poverty in the USA and how we can make a difference by supporting SCCC. We listened to beautiful music by harpist Kristen Ray. Delicious food was enjoyed by all thanks to 95a Bistro, The Huckleberry, Indulge Bakery, and Martino’s Pizzeria. A group of lively volunteers from Platt Choice Middle School served dinner and dessert. Hundreds of generous donors made our silent auction selection exceptional. Our 23 sponsors and 6 planning committee members made it all possible!

Speaking of TaRhonda Thomas, did you know that she is the emcee for our upcoming Big Event 2? This fundraising celebration will be held on Saturday, April 6. Our honored guest, Izhar Harpaz, Emmy winning Producer of Dateline NBC will do a presentation on the making of Dateline’s America Now: Lost in Suburbia. Family Bingo Night at SCCC is Friday 3/15

We are excited to be hosting our first Family Bingo Night at SCCC on Friday 3/15. Games begin at 4pm and go until 6pm. Everyone is welcome! This event will be fun for the whole family – including games for the kids.

Family Bingo Night is free and will be held at our location on Aspen Ridge Drive: 655 Aspen Ridge Drive, Lafayette 80026

We’ll have fun prizes to give away, including gift certificates, toys and other exciting surprises.

Easter Thank Yous, and Help Needed

The Easter season is underway! We are pleased that so many community members have stepped up to help make this Easter season special for our participants. Thank you to our volunteers Rita Hay and Tawnya Mitchell who have been key organizers in getting 800-900 Easter Baskets ready to give away!!

Incredibly generous donations have been received from Friends of SCCC at Flatirons Community Church, Kohls, and Clifton Ministries.

If you’d like to help, we are still in need of toys for the baskets for children ages 0-6 yrs!
