Bridges Out of Poverty

Bridges Out of Poverty is a Boulder County initiative of which SCCC is a strong proponent and participant. There are two primary components to the Bridges Out of Poverty initiative: Getting Ahead and the Circles program.

SCCC is proud to offer and facilitate Getting Ahead workshops. The workshop provides an opportunity for our participants to examine their current situation alongside a human services professional and create a plan to become more financially independent. Getting Ahead curriculum encourages personal responsibility as a solution to economic instability.

Once a participant graduates from Getting Ahead they have the opportunity to participate in the Boulder County Circles program which is the second phase of the Bridges Out of Poverty initiative. Circles connects low-income residents with a volunteer ally in their community who can assist a participant working towards economic stability.

Bulk Food Cooperative

With our sister agencies Emergency Family Assistance Association and Outreach United Resource (OUR) Center together we harness our collective purchasing power to acquire mass quantities of staple food items at a bulk rate that we need for our food distributing programs.

Strengths-Based Approach

SCCC provides supportive services under the program umbrella Individual and Family Advocacy.  Our Advocacy program works similarly to case management practices however utilizing the county wide adopted Strength-based approach.  SCCC was a leader in developing the philosophy and worked with Boulder County Commissioners to adopt and implement this approach.  Boulder County Housing and Human Services has adopted the Strength-based Approach into their strategic plan.

Efforts to Outcomes Participant Management Database

Along with our sister agencies EFAA, OUR Center and Community Food Share and a grant from Boulder County, together we purchased the Efforts to Outcomes participant management system.  Efforts to Outcomes was specifically designed to be used by human service professionals to demonstrate the efforts we apply in our work and the associated outcomes for the participants we serve and our community.  The management system also helps to prevent duplication of services and increases our effectiveness to delivery timely and meaningful services.
